Présentation
Built on the ancient city walls, the municipal museum offers the visitor a journey around three axes: – Archeology and the treasure of the three tombs of Frankish chiefs discovered in St-Dizier. 90% of the collections come from local excavations, up to 30 km around the city. – Ornithology with more than 125 birds on display illustrating the richness of the fauna of Lac du Der and the Marne Valley. – Art casting with works by renowned artists cast in local foundries. Among the sculptures, those of Hector Guimard, precursor of the Art Nouveau style, Mathurin Moreau and Antoine Durenne. Upstairs, a Fine Arts section can be admired with 19th century paintings. The museum offers a program of varied activities all year round, workshops for young people and conferences.
