LPO volunteers invite you to discover how to protect these birds, for which they scour the fields every year from April to July. After a screening of the film “The Harrier on the Straw,” a discussion with volunteers involved in this work, including Jacqueline Gillet, will provide an opportunity to learn more about these elegant birds of prey and how you can help them simply by sharing your observations with those working to locate nests. This awareness-raising event is organized with the support of the municipality of Magnicourt, as part of the Regional Action Plan for Birds of Agricultural Plains, led by LPO Champagne-Ardenne and ODONAT Grand Est, in conjunction with local naturalists, farmers, and hunters, within the framework of the Life Biodiv’Est project. The protection of harriers, three species that nest on the ground in crops, mobilizes volunteers every year in the departments of Aube, Marne, and Haute-Marne. It is essential for the survival of these species, and cannot be carried out without the help of farmers who host these birds in their fields.
